If youโre stressed out during the day, coloring books can be a soothing experience. Filling in images of familiar faces can give you a moment of calm. Or, if youโre not artistically inclined, customize your favorite hero. As one might expect, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Official Coloring Book offers the chance to meet special characters. It’s a generally pleasant experience, though not every page is perfect, and Tanjiro Kamado and his core group get the most attention.
In many ways, the Demon Slayer coloring book is perfect. It accomplishes what a fan of the series might want. This is a compilation book. Viz’s English release combines two Japanese books into one. With over 80 pages and 70 pieces of art, it falls short of an A4 book because it is only 7.25 by 10.13 inches in size. Koyoharu Gotouge’s exact art is used. Thus, the image is authentic.
The line art can also be less complex in some situations. Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho, Muichiro Tokito, and Obanai Iguro, for instance, would have less elaborate hair on Demon Slayer coloring pages. Perhaps this is because their hair and uniforms are initially mostly black? Nezuko pages can also suffer from this issue, which is understandable. However, if you use one of them and a more detailed character, such as Giyu and Tanjiro for the same page, it seems disjointed.
Overall, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Official Coloring Book fulfills all expectations. You’re getting the chance to color in covers, panels, and single art pieces with important people with Gotouge’s art. The pages might not be perfect, but if you have pens and get creative, you can probably make them look pretty great.
